Race day is here!!!
Published by
Well, it is here...today I leave for Waterloo. What started out as an idea earlier this year (while in Iraq) to run a half marathon while on R & R has finally become reality. I knew going to Iraq would cut down on my road races back home, but they do have 5ks over there, so it is not too bad, and when they do have the shadow runs, (which need to be marked better...no comment), those are good to break up the week after week 5k route we run so often. I have a goal time for this race, but I will not be upset if I don't hit it. Training over in Iraq is a trip for sure... I have ran with my CC Team here everyday since I have been back. It feels really good and it is going to be hard to leave again for the hard concrete roads/track and dust that awaits me back in Balad. Also leaving my family and friends is really going to be hard. They have put on so many "welcome back" parties, I truly feel blessed to have such a great family and such great friends. I still have some time left here though, so I am making the most of it. So far it has been beyond anything I could have imagined and I know with everything that is currently planned, it will keep getting better. So I will keep you posted on the race, it will be rewarding no matter what.
See you on the Roads. Sherrod out :)
